Franken Friday #6

I think this might be the most boring one so far. Instead of Raindrops on Roses, I should have called it, "The Embodiment of Meh."

I'd describe it as a rosy crelly with subtle glitter. It sounds prettier than it looks though... What do you think?

Nail Junkie

It's what I am, & it's what this polish is called ;-)

Weekend Water Marble

Ehhh, I'm not terribly pleased with it, hence the lack of photos.

Halloweenish colors, but my execution, I feel, was lacking. I was super tired when I did it... yeah, that's my excuse.

What I was SUPER pleased with though, was this:

Mid meal photos, hahaha. We (me and my fella) went to this insaaaane Polish restaurant on Fresh Pond Road. The Polish name, I won't even try to pronounce, but the English translation is King's Feast. Let me tell you, it lives up to it's name. My fella had a pork chop, and I had pork & plum skewers. Oh, & the appetizers? Bacon wrapped plums. UNF. I'm hungry again just thinking about it... SO GOOD.

The water marble didn't hold up too well, & I was itching to take it off when I got home today. So here, I've got Milani Holographic in HD, with Color Club Covered in Diamonds on top.

& here's a flash picture, just 'cause I thought it looked weird in the flash:

That's all, folks :-)

In a Martini, update:

This is a much more accurate picture.

I loves it.

Franken Friday, the Fifth!

I first thought this had to be the ugliest color I've ever mixed. But upon putting it on my nails, fell in love. (This seems to be a theme with my frankens!) It's a little greener than it looks here, a true olive. (Hence the name.) So, here you go: In a Martini.

It complements my skin well... & not only that, looks fucking gorgeous with Sinful Colors Faceted:

Photos don't do this justice. I've noticed something funny about Faceted too- it looks best in low light for some reason. In strong light, the bar glitter seems to disappear, & the tiny purple glitters look like they do here, like dirt. I so love it though. I'm actually keeping this on till tomorrow, gasp!

Quick & dirty update...

WnW Root of all Evil, with Venomous Vixen sponged on top, Star of the Party glitter, & NYC Matte top coat. I combined the two, thinking the names were appropriate for my angry, angry mood last night. Having stars on my nails makes me feel a little better, though ;-) Doesn't change the fact that I'm tired of dealing with morons & assholes & getting kicked around all the time, but whatever. In the long run, I'm better off than they are.

Well, I couldn't decide on a color, so...

... I decided to do a mani for something I've recently decided to be a part of. Polish Days! I'm way late, since I just found out about it last night, but I decided to do it anyway. The theme was Sentimental, & i chose to interpret this as the polish that got me hooked. Enter OPI, Stranger Tides.

This polish, when I first saw it, I thought "Hmm, I bet that'll look nice on my pasty ass skin." I picked up the bottle, read the name... & came back to my senses. What a hideous color, I thought, as I scrunched up my face in disgust in front of the display. I'm glad I caught myself! But then... I decided I had to have it.

So it was that a week later, I was frantically searching through every Duane Reade on B'way from midtown to the UWS. I googled it as I walked, & that was when I discovered the world of polish blogs. I believe it was Liquid Jelly that I first found. The night I found Stranger Tides though, was also the night I found Just Spotted the Lizard... and it's all been downhill from there, ladies.

Weekend Water Marble!

I love this mani so much, I'm seriously reconsidering re-doing it on a set of fake nails, so I can have have nails like this whenever I want. I used Sinful Colors Vacation Time, SH CSM Gray by Gray, Wet n Wild White, Milani Holographic in 3D, & L'Oreal Safari Chic for the marble, a dollar store gold striping paint for accents, then WnW Star of the Party for the stars, & Sinful Colors Opal Glitter for the finishing touch. On top of all that is the matte top coat from NYC. Pure love!

Franken Friday #4!

I present to you, Birthday Suit!

In retrospect, I probably should have named it herpes ;-) It was fun to wear though.

Gradient Nails, wheee!

I think it's safe to say I'm obsessed with gradient nails. Something about sponging colors on & fading them into each other is just so much fun, plus it's a great way to disguise tip wear or rejuvenate a color you've gotten sick of ... I hereby declare myself the queen of gradients!

Here, we've started with a coat of Sally Hansen CSM in all Fired Up:

...and then sponged on Caribbean Turquoise from QRS, & my franken, Scottish Heather. LOVE.

This weekend, I did nails for my fella, who had said something about a gray to dark blue gradient. Behold! Ulta, Concrete Evidence under Color Club, Naughtycal:

...actually, you're going to have to wait. Sorry, my phone (only camera at the moment) & my computer seem to not be on speaking terms. But, that means you get two gradients later, because I just did a purdy one with purple. Hasta luego...!

Today is Boring Color Day!

Well, no, not really. It's just that my random selection (with eyes closed, mind you!) from my untried box yielded two not very exciting colors, although I thought one would be at least a little exciting... but alas. Here we have Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Terracotta (which is totally NOT even CLOSE to terracotta, & why are they revamping the formula?! I LOVE the formula on these... I bet it going to suck now, which is why I'm glad they just had a huge sale & I snapped some up for 2.29 piece, ahem):

I'm torn on this color. It's darker than mannequin hands, but it's so damn neutral & safe. On the other hand, it reminds me of cashmere, or a Burberry scarf, & I feel cuddly when I look at it. Wtf, I know. This is two coats, lovely application.

The other untried I pulled out was from the Milani Holographic collection, the gold one. It's called 3D. I layered two coats over the SH (& then futzed around with my striper brushes, because I was thinking of my fella & I love him):

I don't know about this color on me either. It looks ever so slightly greener in real life, & it's not a strong enough holo that I'm willing to overlook the color. I usually prefer wearing polish that is noticeably darker in tone than my skin, otherwise weird clashy things like this happen. *sigh*

I'm so torn! This'll probably come off later...

Pumpkin patch nails!

QRS apple lime, with some unnamed orange & black glitter I bought in a set at Rite aid. I think I put a Sinful Colors glitter on too, can't remember which one though... sorry, hahaha.

Those nails are no more though, sadly... I've given 'em all the chop, so they're all even & straight & will hopefully grow out that way. Cross yer fingers, for no more broken nails!

Franken Friday #3, part 2.

I got tired of those nails real quick... & said fuck that noise, I'm gonna do a real franken friday, patch or not! So, here we go. I present to you Scottish Heather, the murkiest brown/purple/gray you've ever seen in your life, with a hint of lovely yellow shimmer. Really, you look at the bottle or your nails, & you just don't know what color it is! I love it.

I've got Color Club Covered in Diamonds on my ring & thumb. So, there you have it. Enjoy!

Franken Friday #3!

Well, I'm sort of cheating on this one... normally, I'd change my polish tomorrow to an entirely frankened manicure. But, my left pinky nail ripped tonight & I had to patch it. (SO proud of myself for not purposefully ripping it completely off, like the old me would have done!) Therefore, instead of being a smart, thinking ahead sort of girl & realizing it was already early friday morning, I went ahead & picked another random polish from my untried stash... not thinking about the fact that I'd want to limit changing my polish for the next few weeks. I present to you Revlon, Cherries in the Snow... bought solely because I find this vintage ad for it utterly hilarious:

My middle finger is the frankened polish, Spectral Tears, made by dumping Fantasy Makers loose glitter into clear polish. So I didn't cheat TOO badly,  but I'm planning on leaving this mani on for as long as possible.  CitS applied pretty well, only needing one coat, but it was pretty thick. So thick, that I might thin it out a little before the next time I use it. On my thumb is Color Club, Covered in Diamonds... while I'm a sucker for flakies, this one is somewhat shite. Not enough flakies, and that smell! Whooooo, my nostrils be singed. It does dry fast though... Zebra stripes were free handed with a brush, rhinestones are from some dollar store kit I got a while ago.

So...  yeah. Fortunately, I *do* have past manis to show you, so stay tuned :-)

I'm still here!

Just took a little break over the last 4 days to take care of some stuff,  & have fun. My fella took me out to a really nice seafood place this weekend... & last night was a friend's show at Webster Hall. But, onto the nails!

First up, this weekend's nails... I let my fella pick the color, and he chose seafoam, for a guitar he's been thinking about.

The base is WnW I Need a Refresh-Mint, with white sponged over it, & an iridescent sheer seafoam from Prevail over that. He loved it :-)

Now, onto last night's nails: my friend Natasha had magnetic nails, so of course I had to follow suit ;-) Sinful Colors, Polar Opposites.

Of course, I had to put my favorite glitter, NYX Frizz Spots, on top ;-) I LOVE this polish combo!
